Cyprus

Introduction

The birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty and passion, Cyprus has long been a choice destination of holidaymakers and business people alike.

An idyllic sunny island at the crossroads between Europe, Africa and Asia, Cyprus boasts a strong tourism industry. In the summers, visitors and locals alike flock to the island’s many beaches to enjoy the sun, while spring sees the island’s hills covered in a carpet of flowers.

In the south lies Limassol, a thriving seaside city with a vibrant marina – a popular summertime destination for yacht owners. In the south-west, Paphos and its world-class archaeological sites such as the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Tombs of the Kings. In the East, Agia Napa houses some the island’s best sandy beaches.

With historical ties to Britain, Cyprus has numerous schools that follow the British curriculum, and many students go on to study at UK universities. The country has a resilient economy and showed continued sustained growth following the last recession. Measures implemented to stimulate the economy has accelerated Cyprus’ GDP growth placing the island amongst the highest accelerating economies in Europe.
